Brick tiles on roofs are joined together. Rain falling on the roof or UV rays of the sun causes seasoning of the brick tiles and their joints. Dust and dirt accumulating on the roof also cause seasoning of the tiles. Due to seasoning, cracks begin to happen in between the joints. Cracks may be milder but with passage of time, milder cracks begin to grow wider making routes for water to go underneath the tiles.

Water passing below the roof causes roof structure to become weak. Sometimes brick tiles can get loosened by water seeping in the grooves
